I would highly recommend Active Physical Therapy post surgery. This is my second experience with the facility (rotator cuff repair and anterior & posterior neck fusions). My therapist, Paul, was very knowledgeable & listened to my needs each visit. My at home program was basic, but extremely helpful! I also saw Brooke, who worked my soft tissue areas that were giving me discomfort — excellent massage techniques! Thank you, Active, for assisting with my “trail” to recovery!

I worked with Cassie at Active for 4 months for a herniated disc causing problems down my leg. We worked together before surgery and then again after and I cannot say enough good things about her and the overall environment of the facility. Everyone was friendly, upbeat and motivating. I received physical therapy from August through November 2022. I had 3 therapists helping me: Kristin E., Amy W. and Allyssa V.. All 3 worked to repair my left rotator cuff with multiple tears after my repair surgery on July 20th… The service was excellent from all 3 therapists. I highly recommend Active Physical Therapy.

After an incredibly rough start with the healing process, Elizabeth and Allyssa gave it their all. They pushed me and encouraged me EVERY step of the way. I can’t say enough good things about the entire staff at Active Physical Therapy in Ishpeming. Kristin Eden was my primary therapist and I saw Amy and Allyssa as well. What seemed like a never ending process with an injury I never dreamt would become as complex, their care and the changes that took place within my body turned out to a blessing and I’m better for what I thought was a loss of time. Retuning to waitressing after a few weeks, I found the tasks to be easier than ever before! I was so pleased to start up again feeling so strong!! Kristin was so compassionate and encouraging in considering my goals and all aspects of what was causing my pain. I was glad to reach the point to exit the program and I was sent with great aftercare exercises but, I miss seeing all the friendly people and staff! I would not hesitate to send anyone their way!

I came into therapy here at Active with very limited movement in my left hand n severe nerve pain in left shoulder and my hand. I wasn’t able to lift anything heavy, had major trouble tying my shoelaces and washing my silverware. The experience I’ve had here has been amazing. The ladies I had the pleasure of working with have gotten me back to a point where I can tie my shoes, wash my silverware, and have decreased the pain to a manageable level. I now have limited pain in my shoulder and strength in my back. I have been able to lift things I haven’t been able to lift in two years. The women I worked with pushed me when I wanted to give up, and we enjoyed laughing every week. This therapy business has been the best place I’ve been. Please consider Active Physical Therapy as your place for much needed help. You won’t be disappointed.

From the moment you enter the office, you are greeted warmly, with plenty of smiles and top-notch service. Every single one of the physical therapists I worked with were knowledgeable and helpful in my recovery. Even when someone had to fill-in for another, the quality never slipped and I received great service. But, I have to admit, that my primary therapist, Cassie (Cassandra), was top-of-the-line in every way. I didn't just do therapy, we had a blast as she helped me learn the things I needed to know to continue my recovery and get stronger. She made it fun, dare I say - enjoyable? I saw Anna for DRA and JJ for TMJ. Both were awesome docs and people.
I saw overnight improvement with my diastisis after Anna walked me through breathing exercises and how to engage my muscles appropriately. I also saw huge improvements in my weightlifting after knowing how to brace appropriately.
JJ helped me understand how one imbalance can have a cascading impact. I know how to pay attention to the messages my jaw is sending me and respond with exercises to rebalance things.

At 62, this was my first experience with physical therapy, and I was very impressed with how knowledgeable and caring the folks are at Active. With their expertise, I not only strengthened and repaired my knee injury, I also learned about the way I walk, my posture, how I favor one leg over the other, all things that probably led to the knee injury in the first place. Now, with the program that I can continue at home and with the knowledge about my physical self that I learned there, hopefully I can prevent further future injuries while maintaining an active life style. Have been doing therapy with Active since high school and the service is still just as great! After a shoulder injury and not being able to do daily activities like normal I started again and after working with Megan for a couple months I can finally do everything without a constant pain in my shoulder! Active physical therapy has given me the tools to use with my workouts on my own to make sure that I can avoid another injury. If I do happen to get injured again and need more physical therapy, there is no place I’d rather go!

Went in back in the fall of 2021 with knee and achilles pain. Worked with Joel up until I was discharged and I’ve never felt stronger. No more pain in both of my knee and achilles. I work a job with a very high physical toll and I now feel more adequately prepared for another season of work. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Joel was great to work with and I see real change in the way i feel and move.

I went to Active Physical Therapy in Marquette for treatment of tendonitis in both shoulders. Starting in October of 2021, I just finished and the results have been very impressive. My therapist J.J. (JARRETT) was awesome. I'm 65 and had never been to physical therapy before. I'd highly recommend Active to anybody experiencing joint pain with limited motion!!

JJ helped me, in the spring, with wrist tendonitis. I appreciated his intelligence and the way he challenged me. During one session, he noticed that my right shoulder was less flexible than my left shoulder and asked about it. I've held tension, since childhood, due to trauma, and although I've worked hard to relieve old fear-related tension, my right shoulder was still restricted. I asked JJ if he thought he could help me. I told him it was a complicated problem that did not involve acute, new shoulder pain. He said he was up for a challenge and let me know that a lot of the work might not be related to my shoulder. Right away JJ called on other physical therapists to help me learn to breathe in a way that is functional and nourishing and to help me release abdominal tension. He astutely evaluated my health as a comprehensive system. I now have a fitness routine that increases my strength and flexibility, and my breathing is productive and nourishing. I also starting working with a wonderful acupuncture practitioner to further assist release of old fear. I feel extremely grateful!
