The food is good at Brown Dog Cafe. The restaurant was unable to make some salads and entrees due to lack of ingredients which was disappointing. Our server was just okay-mixed up drink orders and service was a bit slow. Overall it was decent and would recommend it.

Recently, I met some friends for brunch at the Brown Dog Cafe. Even though it was raining, we ate outdoors. Once the staff lit the heating lamps, we were warm and cozy. In addition, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I am already planning another outing there.

With a children’s menu it would have been nice to have colors and a cute paper with dogs to color. Our server was extremely sweet and patient with our little 3 year old.

For years I have had friends encouraging me to go to Brown Dog Cafe, but for whatever reason I was never able to make it work. That is no longer the case. Last weekend a friend and I went to Brown Dog Cafe and it was a delicious and tasty dinner. It was "Restaurant Week" or something like that, so the normal menu was abbreviated with a focus on a $46/person three course prix fixe menu. I was originally disappointed by this as I had already made a decision prior to going based on the menu posted online, however, I was able to adapt and chose the lobster bisque, greens salad, and a red snapper. I would rate all three dishes 5/5. Our waitress was Holly, who was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu. She even gave me a very honest opinion about a particular dish when I was ordering, steering me towards a different salad for my second course. If you are in to beer, wine, or liquor, the Brown Dog Cafe bar was quite impressive. A shout-out to Teddy, the bartender who took great care of us prior to getting a table. I highly recommend Brown Dog Cafe.

I love this restaurant, so I am reluctant to share a review of our Restaurant Week dinner. First and second courses were great, but my third course was a misstep. The manager made it right, and it will not prevent us from returning or recommending Brown Dog. Poor planning for offering a Beef Wellington under these circumstances.

This experience was really close to a 5 but I couldn't quite give it a 5 because the Bloody Mary that I ordered was not up to par. I love a good Bloody Mary and when the girls and I chose this place for brunch on Saturday I was anticipating the drink for days (sigh). When it came though it tasted like tomato juice with a bunch of pepper in it. It was not seasoned well, I couldn't detect any vodka in it. Bleh. There was nothing enjoyable about it. One of the other girls had ordered one also and agreed so it wasn't just me. We both sent ours back ... In 38 years of drinking I don't think I have ever sent a bloody Mary back. But I did on Saturday. I am sure this was just a one off situation. The premix didn't get shaken up or it was an oversight on someone's part that this or that didn't get mixed in. It happens. I get it. But it put a dent in my experience that day. I was sad for a brief period of time. But then I ordered a " Pool Party In A Glass " and it lifted my spirits! That drink was outstanding! In addition my food, the Breakfast Poutine, was incredible. Really! I will have to go back soon because I'm already craving another one. Delicious. I will also comment on 2 other dishes at the table that looked outstanding were the chicken wings and the grilled chicken Caesar salad. Also our waitress was impeccable with her service! Kudos to her for her patience, kindness, and stellar smile!! This place is a little far for me to go for a meal but I will drive out of my way to go back! I'm hoping when I do the next batch of Bloody Marys will allow me to select that 5th star : )

Despite the high style of the decor which usually indicates a noisy atmosphere, the restaurant noise level was comfortable allowing easy table conversation. Menu is varied from burgers to steaks. Sides and salads are inventive and flavorful. Everything is presented tastefully. A tad pricey but you get what you’re paying for.

Came for restaurant week as the menu sounded really good. Nice location and setting, staff was friendly. Food just ok, frankly overpriced for what it was. Maybe worth the gluten free apps and pizza for a more casual night, but having just been to sotto for a comparable amount... It's not that.
