GoogleDr. Hood did excellent work on my hip replacement. The care started the month before, with a surgery preparation class, a thorough physical exam, plus a required heart screening through my cardiologist. On the day of surgery, I was cared for in hospital until I'd met multiple requirements for release and not just released as soon as I was ambulatory like I had been before with a different surgical practice. PT was at my home the next day for an initial evaluation, as well as the day after that to start PT, even though it was a holiday. Staff was responsive for pain management. Communication was constant and prompt (aside from some pre-surgical misses which I felt happened on both sides - which we all got through). Follow up visits were more frequent than before and PT was available only 2 miles from my home. This was my second hip replacement and none of what I write would I say about my prior experience. Accordingly, my healing has been much faster and my new hip is mostly pain free, which I still can't say about my older hip. I felt like I was a person first, and a bill second. This is not something I can say in general these days: I've had 13 surgerires to date and have often felt that all I was to sone practices was money. Not all orthopedic surgeons are equal. Investigate and choose carefully. I would return to this practice in future if need be.
