I had a wonderful first visit with Dr. Haddock yesterday. I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and wanted to go to the best of the best! Everything about my experience was professional, and Dr. Haddock was very thorough in giving me all the options along with all of the details of each one. All staff are friendly. Dr. Haddock spent time telling me all about my surgery I have to have done. Told me if I have more questions, write them down and he'll be happy to answer them. I also received a folder with a lot more valuable information. I left feeling like I know what my surgery entails, which took a lot of stress off me. The only negative would be the length of time it takes to get an appointment or surgery, but he also teaches other doctors how to do procedures/surgeries, so the wait time is understood.

My appointment August 1,2024 with Dr.Nicholas Haddock at U T Southwestern, Dallas , TX. At arrival at the front desk I was greeded with a friendly smile with questions about my medical coverage and if I had been exposed to any illnesses that was contagious. I was instructed to go to the waiting room. My wait was less than 5 minutes. The nurse escorted me to the examing room. She was friendly and worked quickly going over my online medical form. I requested that she give me a few minutes to settle down before takeing my blood pressure. She was more than willing to accommodate my request. She asked if I had any questions or concerns. She informed me the Dr. would be in soon. Normally I have never had to wait on the Dr. , but today was different. After 5 or 10 minutes of waiting his assistant informed me that he was being held up with the patient before me and that he would be with me shortly. I appreciated her letting me know they were aware of me waiting. I had a 15 or 20 minute face to face meeting with Dr. Haddock . He was personable and professional. He examined me and went over the information for the next procedure/surgery. He asked me if I was willing to continue with the treatment. He has always treated me with great respect and concern for my needs. We agreed to agree. I have no doubt that I am in the best of care and with his talent my outcome will be successful. I was directed to a photographer to take a few photos of my progress. That was comfortable and fast . I was escorted to schedule hospital surgery date and time. The staff went over what was expected of me before,during and after that procedure. I was well cared for and felt the warmth from all parties envoled during that visit.

I met with Dr. Nicholas Haddock after a partial mastectomy, done by a different surgeon at a different hospital, yielded positive margins, requiring additional treatment. Knowing Dr. Haddock, through a personal connection, I reached out to him and not only had all of my questions answered, but he took his time walking me through the process of what would be done and what I could expect, and for the first time since my breast cancer diagnosis, I felt seen, heard, and understood. I’ve often said he brought a calmness to the chaos I was feeling, and he absolutely did. I am forever grateful for that. Dr. Haddock and the team he assembled were phenomenal. I had a bilateral mastectomy with DIEP Flap Reconstruction and have been healing remarkably well. You won’t find a more brilliant and talented surgeon who works any harder than Dr. Haddock does at refining his expertise, while maintaining a kind and humble spirit, as well.

I have BRCA1 and a strong family history of breast and ovarian cancer. With a heightened awareness of my cancer risk from the age of 16 due to my mother’s breast cancer advocacy, I knew I wanted to take the prophylactic route. I began this journey seriously at 25 and consulted with three other surgeons before ultimately choosing Dr. Haddock for a DIEP flap reconstruction at 29, following a robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy. From the very beginning, Dr. Haddock impressed me with his extensive knowledge and passion for breast reconstruction. His high volume of procedures and remarkable efficiency were key factors in my decision. My DIEP flap procedure, which took just five hours, was notably quicker than what other surgeons had anticipated. His communication style is very direct and to the point, which was a bit of a departure from the warmer, more nuanced approach I was accustomed to. Nevertheless, he has always been incredibly patient with my many questions, addressing each one thoroughly and often with a tiny sprinkle of humor. I have always felt very safe and respected in his care, which was crucial to me. I had previously encountered a surgeon who infantilized me for wanting a prophylactic mastectomy in my twenties. In contrast, Dr. Haddock treated me with the utmost respect, as an informed adult making a personal choice about my body and my risk. In this regard, he reminds me of Albus Dumbledore—wise, respectful, and focused on keeping you safe. The office staff and residents are equally wonderful and responsive, especially his nurse Molly, who is a true ray of sunshine. Her kindness and empathy balance Dr. Haddock’s straightforwardness, making for a well-rouded experience. I was very pleased with my robotic nipple-sparing mastectomy performed by Dr. Farr and the partial reconstruction by Dr. Haddock. My recovery was quicker and less painful than expected. The DIEP flap procedure with Dr. Haddock also exceeded my expectations. He even provided a free tattoo removal through surgery, so thank you, Dr. Haddock! Although I experienced some pain and issues with an antibiotic reaction, Dr. Haddock addressed these promptly and effectively with the right medication. I also had to bring my three-year-old daughter to some appointments, and Dr. Haddock and his team were incredibly accommodating and interacted with her kindly. One thing I wish I had known beforehand was that my PCP would refuse to see me due to Dr. Haddock's involvement, continually sending me back to him for post-surgery concerns. Thankfully, Dr. Haddock’s office handled this with understanding and care. For those dealing with menstruation issues, IVF, or other reproductive health concerns that need to be managed alongside surgery or medical procedures (contraception) it’s important to have an OB/GYN or reproductive endocrinologist who can manage these aspects alongside Dr. Haddock. In my experience with him, Dr. Haddock focuses solely on breast reconstruction and doesn’t handle these additional concerns. While this was initially a bit of a hurdle, I was fortunate to have an incredible OB/GYN who provided excellent care alongside him. I’ve had my off days with Dr. Haddock where I wasn’t at my best, but he was understanding and did not take it personally. After a revision surgery, I confided in Molly about struggling to communicate with him, and I believe she relayed this to Dr. Haddock. The next day, Dr. Haddock’s approach shifted to be warmer and more empathetic. This adjustment, while perhaps not his usual style, meant a lot to me, and I’m very grateful for his effort to meet my needs. Typically, doctors have a take-it-or-leave-it attitude, but Dr. Haddock made a genuine effort, and that is admirable. I’m unsure if my journey is complete, but I feel less anxious knowing Dr.Haddock and his team will keep me safe if I need additional procedures.

Dr Haddock was amazing both before and after my mastectomy. He was informative, assuring, knowledgeable, patient with our endless questions, kind, professional and easy to get ahold of either directly or with his staff. The surgery went exactly as he predicted and accomplished everything we planned. I'm still in the middle - have had the mastectomy, the drains removed and expanders in. The permanent implants are in my future and I have every confidence in him and his staff. I have already recommended him to both friends and family with similar concerns.

Dr. Haddock is a brilliant plastic surgeon. I'm thankful he was able to place tissue expanders at the time of my mastectomy, saving me an additional surgery. After finishing my cancer treatments I followed up with him for breast reconstruction. Dr. Haddock is an innovator in DIEP flap breast reconstruction and his expertise in this area has allowed me to feel like a whole person again. I'm very pleased with the results of my reconstruction and thankful he has been my plastic surgeon.
